Fanatics About Service. Obsessed With Cars.

Turn3 News: Summer 2013 Newsletter

“I don’t know driving in another way which isn’t risky. Each one has to improve himself. Each driver has its limit. My limit is a little bit further than other’s.”

~ Ayrton Senna

Driving season is upon us and we are enjoying it as much as you are. There has been plenty of sunshine in Vancouver over the last few weeks and there were sports cars & motorcycles everywhere…and we have been lucky to get out and enjoy it.

At Turn3 we’ve been welcoming many new and past customers at the shop & things are really coming together…we’re having fun too!

We are obsessed with service and constantly looking at ways we can make it easier for you to get your car taken care of.  So far our customers tell us we are completely on track.  And, of course, we are going to get even better.

We’ve noticed that both the flexible hours (we can accommodate late night or weekend drop offs where your car is parked in our secure and monitored facility) and the courtesy car are very valuable to our busy customers.

Some Highlights:

1. The Writing is on the wall.

We take our Core Values very seriously.  These are not corporate fluff…they are principles that we all must live by. Interestingly it is quite easy because we (Jeff & Kevin) share these values & we consciously hired our team based on them.

That said, it helps to have reminders and that’s why we have our 17 foot tall Turn3 wall to remind us of them.   And, we review these in our daily & weekly meetings.

2.     Tech Event: How forged wheels for motorsport are made with Fikse wheels.

We had a great turnout at our tech event on February 28th.  It was great to spend the evening with fellow car enthusiasts.

Jeff Alton (Turn3) and Daryle Redlin (Fikse wheels) walked us through what goes into making high quality forged wheels for motorsport.  It was interesting to see the whole process and how raw aluminum becomes a very light and strong piece of equipment.

Many say that the wheels on your car are the critical link in performance as they take so much stress and abuse and because making them lighter has such a huge impact on lap times.

Here is a link to some photos from that event:

3. Recent Projects:

There’s been some really interesting work happening at Turn3.  Here are some recent highlights.

UP & Down: Fixing the roof on a Ferrari F355

This Ferrari 355 is owned by one of our customers who is very passionate about cars and owns a few Ferrari’s.  This car had a non-functioning roof which we repaired – it is now working like new.

Beautiful Maserati Grand Tourismo

We take care of more than one of this customer’s cars and projects.  For this newer addition to his collection we corrected a ride height imbalance and checked alignment as well as performed basic maintenance on the car.

The White 997 cab

This is the daily driver for the wife of a customer.  In addition to a spring inspection and full service, we installed a full Fabspeed Exhaust system, tuned the ECU software and installed a set of Michelin Pilot Super Sports.  Not only does it look beautiful it sounds amazing too.

The black 996 cab

The owner of the Porsche 911 Cabriolet (996) enjoys their car on both the street and at the track.  The plan was to have the best of both worlds: The cabriolet for fun on sunny days and the DAS roll bar, GT3 Seats, Schoth harness and FIKSE forged wheels for a great time at the track.

The silver GT3

The owner of this 996 GT3 uses this car primarily for track days.  The car has aftermarket coilover suspension and custom front splitter. We rebuilt the factory LSD using the superior internals from Guard Transmission.  We then performed a full setup including a corner balance and full track alignment.  Now its ready to attack the track.

4. Helping those that need some good luck

We want to help those that are having a rough time with a little good luck.

If you know a nice family in the Surrey/Langley area that depends on their car but has issues they can’t afford to fix, let us know.  We’d like to help.

5. How we can help you?

Let us know how we can help you with regular maintenance or performance improvements of your Porsche, BMW or other European car.

Have a great week,

Jeff & Kevin
